jay, to the surprise of no one, looks both agitated and tired. that sure was the longest trial of his damn life. ]

At least we caught someone again.

It's fine. Just be more careful about what you say to others, Jake. There are a couple of people who don't really like me now after that trial, and that may be annoying to deal with in the future.

I'm sorry. I'll try much harder. I didn't think I said anything bad about you so I'll just keep my mouth shut.

[God he wishes he could just remove himself from this game but if he killed himself Dirk would be sad. But he's ruining things.]

I mostly just wanted to let you know that Kaito is fine, and he had nothing to do with that. I understand why you leapt to that conclusion, but it probably was some kind of haunting. They happen.

But... it wouldn't make sense for that, either. I don't want to think Dave would do that to Dirk...

[He rubs his eyes. Maybe it was a random ghost. Maybe it was Mira messing with them somehow. Maybe it's not important at all and he's just tired.] But you're right. I'm really relieved. I hope nothing bad happens to any of you.

[Because they're nice but also because he'd want to die if anything did.]

Jake, I wouldn't be having this conversation with you at all if I didn't like you. You gave me a birthday.

[ that seems like such a small, nonsense thing, but it made him happy. ]

[Jay I hope you're ready for this because Jake starts tearing up, smiling. His emotions have been pretty high so it's such a relief.]

Yep! That's your birthday. You can be an Alpha Kid like me and my friends and you're even the same age as us, too, so please don't let me ruin another friendship.

but jay (thankfully) doesn't ask about it this time. he's not the best at comfort, but he will place a hand on jake's shoulder before dropping it. ]

I've had a lot worse arguments with my... friends [ it's odd calling them that out loud. ] back home. And we were fine. So you did not ruin another friendship. You actually might have just made this one a little stronger.
