week 3, wednesday

[ninjay]

[ jay returned to the room tuesday night extremely late and covered in what appears to be blood and guts. the left sleeve of his shirt was also torn, as if something clawed or bit through it. if jake had tried to get anything out of him, he would only have answered with a "not now" before immediately going into the bathroom to get less fucking gross and then he promptly went the fuck to sleep.

on wednesday he spent the day primarily holed up in the room, sleeping for most of the day. he does not explain what the hell happen until about evening when he finally looks towards jake. ]

Me too. I like being able to do what I want but... [He sighs. He has a lot of complicated feelings on this.] Well, I don't think anyone too reckless is left, maybe, so hopefully we'll all pair up at the least from now on. Do the bandages feel all right?

[ninjay]

They're fine, thank you.

[ there's a bit of a pause, before, ]

I'm the Explorer, by the way.

[potentite]

[He gasps and it's not because Jay finally trusts him.] You're so lucky! I wanted that one! Is the map cool?

[ninjay]

It could be better.

[ HE SOUNDS SO DEFLATED ]

[potentite]

That's such a shame. I thought it would be like that map in Harry Potter... where you can see all the secret passages and where everyone is and all that.

[ninjay]

All it really does is tell me what everything is. So I know what all the locked and burnt places are already, but other than that it's been a pretty useless item to have.

[potentite]

Oh! Then you know that one room on the first floor?

[ninjay]

It's something called a curio shop. I have no idea why something like that would have to be kept so secret though.

[potentite]

Oh, well huh. A curio is a knick-knack, like, um, antiques and trinkets, souvenirs, that sort of thing. We could probably find out a bit more about the town from seeing a shop like that but... I'm not sure why the secrecy.

[ninjay]

There might be more to that room then... not like we'll ever find out now.

[ since a certain SOMEONE with a KEY just had to go and DIE ]

[potentite]

Ah, that's right. You made it sound like you don't think the Copycat is on our side? [He was going to suggest maybe they could ask them but.]

[ninjay]

I don't know. I know that Dave apparently wasn't worried about the Copycat though, which implies he thought they were.

[ rip dave ] What about you? Since you seem to have some sort of idea as to who they are.

[potentite]

I thought Dave was until now, so I'm back at square one there. Though the idea that two people could change roles... [Though.] Then again, I guess... people could be lying, too.

[Which is the most frustrating part really. Even if they gather a lot of information, there's bound to be a few liars.]

Emily said maybe the Magician can pull roles out of a hat.

[He thought it was just a cute little girl thing but he can't really discount it, either.]

[ninjay]

Emily says a lot of interesting things.

[ she is a very strange girl and jay worries about her mental health. ]

I doubt that's what the Magician can do though, it's too much of an unfair advantage.

[potentite]

There could be a limit, such as you only get to pick a new role at the start of the week or something. [He hesitates but:] Dirk's camera can only take five photos a week. So the item roles may be limited in a similar fashion.

[Not that he actually thinks Emil is right but at the same time he's getting the feeling someone is lying about their role, so it's best to consider the options realistically.]

[ninjay]

[ oh.

that's a surprise, but jay does not voice it. he just accepts the new knowledge with a nod. ]

The problem is that it's hard to cross reference all of these roles with each other when we're... keeping them from each other.

[potentite]

[He nods.] Which I... do understand. Certain roles would be in greater danger than others. Several very promising sounding roles are still left in the game. And there's still the issue that there are probably three people in cahoots with each other.

[ninjay]

One of which is most likely the Ghost.

[ which is like, the worst role for a confirmed murderer to have. ]

[potentite]

And if not, the Ghost is at least working with them or just plain murderous. [Which really are any of these options good?]

[ninjay]

I will be extremely glad once we catch the Ghost and won't have to focus so much on them anymore.

[potentite]

Me too. Though if I were the Ghost, aside from never having used it in the first place, I wouldn't now that there's the potential to be caught.

[ninjay]

It's definitely not a role you should overuse. The more you do it, the more likely you are to get found out.

[potentite]

Since Omega sacrificed herself, we should at least catch them next time, even though that will... require another death.

[ninjay]

That's the unfortunate part of it, isn't it? In order to stop more deaths from happening, people have to die.

[potentite]

It is, but... hopefully soon, we'll figure out a way to break that cycle. All we can really do is try.
