[ jay is, for obvious reasons, laying low mostly after the investigation. one of the few times he slips out of 112 he just happens to run into a familiar face.

he just scowls at andersen. ]

You can always wait until tomorrow to attempt to kill me, you know.

[ oh well. he doesn't care. ]

... I don't drink a lot of it.

[ninjay]

... It's fine, I guess.

[ninjay]

[ he presses his lips into a thin line. ]

There was no reason for it anymore.

[ninjay]

[ jay... actually looks a little sick at the line of questioning. ]

There was just no longer a need for it.

[ninjay]

[ he doesn't comment on anything else, and he doesn't seem outwardly thankful that andersen stopped prodding. ]

[ninjay]

There's a lot of ways you can answer that. Some people are against killing, no matter what the circumstance is. But then others might make an exception for someone who's especially evil and may, in their opinion, deserve it.

[ he does think there are people who deserve it. ]

But... I don't think that this place, Yuggoth, is where anyone's end should be. A few people I've spoken to have claimed that maybe just letting the dead stay dead here would be better than taking the deal. That would be a fate worse than death though. It's bad enough that one person already has to stay here, but everyone else? [ he shakes his head. ] No.

I know taking away that choice from people was a terrible thing to do. We know that. And I'm sure there are people who might be willing to stay behind to let the others go home. Maybe we should have trusted the others more, but... if I'm honest, it's not like you all gave me many reasons to trust you in the first place.

[ninjay]

Your actions don't speak for everyone, but you did help me find out who of the people I had relationships with could be trusted to take the deal or not.

[ as it turns out, not that many. ]

Did you ever consider just telling us not to do it?

[ninjay]

[ mint... or poison???

What if you didn't leave shortly after? What if you actually sat down with us, and explained why you felt that reaching out to others would be a better idea? I'm not saying we would have definitely agreed with you, don't get me wrong. But sometimes a different viewpoint, at the right moment, can change the course of things.

[ninjay]

It's fine, I think.

[ there's a pause as he takes another sip. ]

But that's why we chose our path, too. There were too many unknown variables when it came to reaching out. I know it's not an excuse for what we've done, but... you have to understand that from the beginning, we were placed in a position different than yours that made it so that we could only really trust each other. Our extra role in the game forced us to be more paranoid than the rest of you.
